Hi, everyone! This week's journal topic is to watch a specific advertisement on the internet (the link to the advertisement is below) and write about your reactions to it. It is an advertisement that I really enjoy because it lets us see something that we normally cannot see.
In your web entry, remember to include the things that we discussed in class:
- Initial Reaction
- Direct Observations
- Indirect Observations or Interpretation
Focus especially on the last two points--tell about what it made you feel or imagine, and any related thoughts, ideas, or dreams. Perhaps you can even tell us about your own idea for a commercial! What would you sell? How would you advertise it? Or perhaps you can write about what you would film if you had the time, equipment, and money.
Answer
the above questions using lots of detail. Remember to describe your thoughts or experiences. Try to explain the
reasons behind your thoughts. Your answer should be approximately one
page just like your other written journals. Please post your answers on
your blog!
Okay, here's the website: http://www.bravia-advert.com/. In the bottom right corner you will see an option to watch the standard version or the extended version. Please watch the full extended version (see the picture on the left). The website has some videos that also show how the commercial was made, and you may view those, too, if you are interested (this is optional).
The video may take a while to download. You may have to download iTunes to watch it. If you have trouble, leave your questions below.
P.S. I saw the Korea vs. Togo game! It was a really awesome game, and both teams did really well. I was surprised that Korea won since so many of my students thought Korea would lose this one!

| What kinds of things make you laugh? How would you describe your sense of humor? Do you think your culture finds certain things funnier than other cultures do and vice versa? Why? You may give examples to illustrate what you mean (e.g. you may tell us your favorite joke, describe a funny TV show, explain how things that are funny in Korea may not be funny to foreigners).
Answer
the above questions using lots of detail. Remember to describe your thoughts or experiences. Try to explain the
reasons behind your thoughts. Your answer should be approximately one
page just like your other written journals. Please post your answers on
your blog in a new web entry!

| If you could be any character from a book, who would you be? Why? What kinds of adventures or situations would you experience as this character? Is there anything that you would do differently if you were this character?
Answer the above questions using lots of detail. Remember to describe the character and the book that he or she is from. Try to explain the reasons behind your thoughts. Your answer should be approximately one page just like your other written journals. Please post your answers on your blog in a new web entry!

| Hi folks!

If you are interested in Ancient Egypt, then this website has a great game for you. The BBC Interactive Zone has a game called "The Mummy Maker", and it allows you to learn about ancient Egyption practices such as mummification.
In this game, you act as an assistant to the official embalmer Kha. An embalmer is a person who prepares dead bodies for burial. The embalmer must follow special customs so that the spirit of the body can travel to and back from the underworld. The underworld was where ancient Egyptians thought people went after they died.
As you play the game, make sure to read the intro and the information between steps. You can learn a lot of cool stuff. For example, did you know that certain body organs were taken out and put into special jars that were buried along with the bodies? Here is the link: The Mummy Maker. Let me know what you think!

Greetings class!
Just like we discussed in class on Thursday, I would like you to
continue exploring and reading up on different subjects on the
internet. The websites should be in English.
After you find something neat, please share it with us by blogging. In
your entry, include any interesting information you learned and your
thoughts about it. DO NOT copy and paste text from another website in your entry. It is important to write your own thoughts and opinions. Don't forget to tell us the web addresses of the sites you visit!
When
you are finished, take time to look at the entries made by other
students in the class. Try to leave a comment if you can.
Here are some sites to help you begin (you do not have to choose one from this list):
BBC Interactive Zone

Young MetScience News for
KidsNational

Again, if you have questions or comments, leave them here!
